DHL ECOMMERCE OPENS DISTRIBUTION CENTRE IN DELHI

DHL eCommerce has launched its distribution centre Delhi to support Indian e-tailers and the country’s cross-border e-commerce market.

“India is one of the top 10 e-commerce markets and the fastest-growing globally with e-commerce expected to grow at a CAGR of 31% to reach €2 billion [US$2.4 billion] by 2020," said Malcolm Monteiro, CEO of DHL eCommerce Asia Pacific. “India has been identified as a key market for DPDHL Group and we’re leveraging our experience and successes globally and customizing our services to meet the needs of the India market. We’re confident that our new cross-border solutions will provide an added boost to the growing e-commerce industry in India.”

The Delhi facility allows e-tailers to reach out to their customers around the world and enables quick fulfilment of orders to major markets such as Europe and the US.

“India’s booming e-commerce market, coupled with the government’s implementation of GST2 and greater ease of claiming benefits like MEIS for cross-border shipments, has made e-commerce exports more attractive and business-friendly than ever before,” said Suraj Bangera, country director of DHL eCommerce India. “We are positive of the growth and are hugely committed to enable Indian e-tailers to fully capitalize this exciting e-commerce market.”

The new distribution centre allows DHL eCommerce to provide e-tailers with its portfolio of services tailored for the e-commerce industry, such as Packet and Packet Plus that will enable economical shipments worldwide and DHL Parcel International Direct that offers a transit time of four to seven days for deliveries to Australia, the UK and the US.

DHL has been in India since 1979.
