CARGOLUX AND EMIRATES SKYCARGO SIGN CODESHARE AGREEMENT

Cargolux Airlines and Emirates SkyCargo have signed a codeshare partnership agreement for air cargo transportation.

The two carriers will now be able to procure cargo capacity on each other’s flights and offer it to their customers under their own air waybills and flight numbers. The codeshare agreement applies to cargo capacity on both passenger and freighter flights.

“I’m excited how well our partnership is developing,” said Richard Forson [right in photo], president and CEO of Cargolux. “This codeshare partnership is a natural progression in our cooperation and demonstrates the complementarity of both airlines. Our customers greatly benefit from this partnership as we can offer high-quality products and services to more destinations than ever before.”

The two carriers announced the start of a strategic operational partnership in May 2017, covering block space and interline agreements, aircraft charter, hub connectivity between Dubai and Luxembourg and cargo-handling cooperation. SkyCargo commenced a weekly freighter service to Luxembourg in June 2017 and Cargolux transferred handling for its freighter flights at Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport to Emirates SkyCargo in September 2017. Emirates has also been chartering Boeing 747 freighters from Cargolux since July 2017.

“Over the last five months our operational partnership with Cargolux has gone from strength to strength,” said Nabil Sultan [third from left in photo], divisional senior vice president of cargo at Emirates. “We have achieved a number of the milestones that we had targeted at the outset. We will now be able to deepen this partnership through our codeshare agreement and offer a more seamless and broader range of product and service offerings to our customers.”
