The Port of Hamburg has handled its first One Network Express container vessel in the shipping line’s new magenta livery.

The 8,102 TEU ONE Continuity arrived operating ONE’s Far East-Europe 1 service and was handled at the HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder. The Panama-registered vessel was built in 2008.

“We are delighted to be able to welcome and to clear ONE’s first container ship in the new corporate livery here in Hamburg,” said Jan Holst, director of Germany and Central Europe at ONE. “With the novel magenta colour scheme, we are making this a memorable call for ONE. This, for the shipping industry very unorthodox colour underlines our claim to do things differently and to create something new. Yet along with a striking brand presence, we continue to put our worldwide customers at the forefront of our activities.”

The weekly FE1 service links Hamburg with the Japanese ports of Kobe, Nagoya, Shimizu and Tokyo. Additional ports served include Singapore, Jeddah, Southampton, Le Havre and Rotterdam.

A total of 131,000 TEUs were handled between Hamburg and Japan in 2017, consisting of European exports such as timber products, paper and cardboard, metals and chemical products, as well as Japanese imports such as vehicles, machinery, household appliances and chemical products. Hamburg’s container traffic with Japan grew by 9% in the first half of 2018, according to the port.
