The Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) has called full-day strikes for Lufthansa on November 7-8.

The strike is expected to affect 180,000 passengers from the 1300 cancelled flights, affecting belly-hold cargo operations although Lufthansa Cargo will be business as usual. 

"On Thursday, 7 November, 2,300 of the 3,000 planned Lufthansa Group flights can be operated. On Friday, 8 November, 2,400 Lufthansa Group flights will operate," the airline announced ahead of the 48-hour strike.

Germany's flag carrier said in a statement that passengers can then check the status of their flights online and noted that the Group's airlines — Eurowings, Germanwings, SunExpress, Lufthansa Cityline, SWISS, Edelweiss, Austrian Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Brussels Airlines will not be affected by the strike.

UFO initiated the strike due to what they claim is Lufthansa's "ongoing refusal" to discuss better pay and conditions. 

 Lufthansa said it is currently examining which routes they could deploy larger planes to offer passengers affected by the strike alternative travel options. The airline also offered to rebook flights.
