HANGZHOU WILL BUILD NEW CARGO TERMINAL IN 2020

Hangzhou International Airport in Zhejiang province is looking to build a new cargo terminal starting 2020 as it eyes growth in the volume of airfreight handled.

The airport said in a presentation at the recently concluded China Air Cargo Summit that it will put up a 3-floor cargo terminal, occupying approximately 164,000 square meter building area, including about 120,000 sqm cargo terminal.

 

The purpose of the new infrastructure is to "realize 600,000 tonnes" of cargo handling service by 2035.

 

The facility - which will include affiliated offices, inspection warehouses, bonded warehouses and truck platforms, will expand the recent capacity at the Hangzhou Airport.

In 2018, cargo and mail throughput at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport reached 640,900 tonnes, growing 8.7% year on year. 


It said most cargo at the Hangzhou Airport is managed by various airport logistics company (48%), SF Express (43%), Air China Cargo (8%) and by FedEx (1%).

 

Its international cargo destinations include Hong Kong, Novosibirsk and Moscow (Russia), Liège (Belgium), New York (United States), and Manila in the Philippines.

 

Hangzhou Airport said construction work will start in 2020 and the new cargo terminal will be put in operation at the end of 2020, according to schedule.
