PORT OF LONG BEACH APPOINTS INTERIM CEO
September 23, 2016

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has appointed Duane Kenagy as interim chief executive officer of the Port of Long Beach.

According to the port, Kenagy will not be a candidate for permanent appointment as CEO.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Board of Harbor Commissioners, our tenants and customers, and the talented team here at the Port of Long Beach to continue our strong tradition of service and innovation,” said Kenagy. “I am fully committed to helping this great organization transition to the new chief executive at the conclusion of the board’s search.”

Kenagy, who joined the port in 2014, was capital programmes executive and in charge of all construction and improvement projects at the port. He previously worked for engineering consulting firm Moffatt & Nichol.

“He is highly respected by all of the commissioners, very well regarded in our industry, and well-liked by the port staff,” said Lori Ann Guzmán, president of the Board of Harbor Commissioners. “Duane will lead the Port of Long Beach on a steady path forward as the search begins for a permanent chief executive.”

Jon Slangerup announced on September 8 his resignation from the port, effective October 28, 2016.
