Global Airfreight International has achieved the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics certification from the International Air Transport Association, making Singapore Changi Airport the first airport in the Asia-Pacific region to have an air cargo community with the certification.

“This is an important milestone for our healthcare, life science and pharmaceutical vertical, following our successful attainment of the Good Distribution Practic certification by Health Sciences Authority of Singapore in 2016,” said William Chong, deputy chairman and senior managing director of Global Airfreight International. “This certification signifies our commitment and dedication to provide high-quality and reliable logistics services to all our customers and oveaseas partners. It is also a great testimonial that Global Airfreight is adhering to the highest standards for the transportation and handling of temperature-sensitive and high-value pharmaceutical products. With continuous investment in human resources, Global Airfreight International looks forward to grow the corporate client base for many years to come.”

Changi Airport Group announced in March 2016 that it, together with the Workforce Development Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, would support CEVA Logistics Singapore, dnata Singapore, Expeditors Singapore, Global Airfreight International, Schenker Singapore and Singapore Airlines Cargo in obtaining the CEIV Pharma certification.

“Since we launched the pioneer group of companies to pursue certification, we are heartened by the progress and pleased that we are the first air cargo community in Asia Pacific to achieve an IATA CEIV-certified supply chain,” said Ching Kiat Lim, managing director of air hub development at Changi Airport Group. “Having reliable and capable players equipped to handle pharmaceutical cargo to the highest standards is critical to serve the logistics needs of global pharmaceutical shippers. Looking forward, CAG will continue to work closely with existing and new cargo partners to boost handling standards. Together with our strong connectivity and our ground handlers’ state-of-the-art temperature-controlled facilities, we seek to position Changi Airport as the leading gateway for pharmaceutical cargo handling in the region.”
