SF Airlines has inducted its first Boeing 747-400ERF into its fleet of freighters.

According to the airline, the new addition will be based in Shenzhen and will provide a boost in capacity during the annual November 11 online shopping festival as well as during the upcoming peak season.

SF acquired the aircraft in November 2017 through the first online auction of a freighter in China. The company bought two 747 freighters for a total price of approximately ¥320 million (US$459 million).

The first 747, which was previously operated by Chinese carrier Jade Cargo and has been parked since 2011, completed an eight-month-long process of maintenance to ensure its airworthiness.

SF Airlines now operates a fleet of 48 freighters, consisting of 14 737-300Fs, three 737-400Fs, one 747-400ERF, 25 757-200Fs and five 767-300BCFs.
