UNITED EXPANDS TRANS-PACIFIC OPERATIONS FROM SAN FRANCISCO
December 13, 2018

United Airlines will expand its trans-Pacific operations from its San Francisco hub with the launch of non-stop flights to Delhi and Melbourne, as well as extra frequencies to Auckland and Seoul in 2019.

The airline will also launch non-stop services to Amsterdam and Toronto next year.

“This route expansion solidifies United’s position at San Francisco as the gateway airline serving destinations across the Pacific, the continental United States, as well as to Europe and beyond,” said Oscar Munoz, CEO of United Airlines. “It serves as a fitting capstone to all our efforts that made 2018 a breakthrough year for United, from delivering strong financial performance to currently leading in on-time departures for the second year in a row.”

According to United, the new daily seasonal flight to Delhi will begin on December 5, 2019, while the Melbourne flight will be offered three times a week year-round starting from October 29, 2019. Both will be operated by Boeing 787-9s.

United currently flies non-stop from Newark to Delhi with a 777-200ER and to Mumbai with a 777-300ER.

The airline also operates non-stop 787-9 flights from Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco to Melbourne, as well as from Los Angeles to Melbourne.

United’s second flight between San Francisco and Seoul will be operated four times a week with a 777-200ER from April 1, 2019, adding to the airline’s existing daily 787-9 on the route.

From March 30, 2019, United will extend its flight between San Francisco and Auckland to year-round, with a 777-200ER three times a week. The route is currently operated seasonally with a daily 777-300ER.
