AIRBUS DELIVERS 500 AIRCRAFT IN EIGHT MONTHS
September 9, 2019

European planemaker Airbus has announced it delivered 500 aircraft in the first eight months of 2019, increasing by 66 planes or 15% year-on-year.

The deliveries include 26 A220s and 374 A320 planes, both single-aisle aircrafts, seven A330 CEO configurations, 23 A330 NEOs and 65 wide-bodies A350 and five A380 planes during the period.

"Taking the January-to-August delivery activity into account, Airbus provided 66 more aircraft than during the same eight-month period in 2018," Airbus said in a statement posted by the Centre for Aviation (CAPA).

According to the planemaker, notable deliveries in August include the first A330neo in the A33-900 version for Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia X and the initial A330-900  in the livery of Portuguese wet-lease specialist Hi-Fly.

Also during the month, British airline, Virgin Atlantic, received its initial A350-1000 version of the A350 XWB, and Airbus provided the first-ever ACJ319neo to a private customer.

Taking the latest orders and deliveries into account, Airbus said its backlog of jetliners remaining to be delivered stood at 7,172 – the single-aisle total was composed of 5,810 A320 jetliners, 428 A220s; while the wide-body tally involved 613 A350 XWBs, 270 A330s, and 51 A380s.
