MASkargo, the cargo arm of Malaysian Airlines, and DHL Express are partnering on a door-to-door delivery service starting April 24 in a bid to support changing consumer habits.

In a statement, the carrier said shipments can be delivered to 99% of Malaysia and more than 200 countries worldwide.

Users would be able to access the service through a web portal where they could quotation, book for delivery, pay online, print consignment notes and track their shipments.

MASKargo said it will transport packages in the air and DHL Express will provide the back-end services of picking up and delivery of goods to recipients.

The service will be launched on April 24.

“MASkargo’s business model has always been on the airport-to-airport concept,” said MASkargo’s chief executive Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh. “However, the evolution of customers’ purchasing style and expectations in the delivery of goods purchased today has highlighted the need for us to be closer to our customers.”

He added that after many discussions related to the technical details of this new service, the firm has found a reliable partner in DHL.

“With the objective of making this service a comprehensive end-to-end solution for the public, we hope to leverage each other’s expertise and network in giving the best delivery service to our customers,” Salleh said.

DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei managing director Julian Neo Poh Choon said that recent research from DHL indicated that 80% of all B2B sales interactions between suppliers and professional buyers will take place in digital channels by 2025.

“Customers today are always on the go and they want their products faster than ever before. This partnership with MASkargo couldn’t have been better timed as we leverage our presence in over 220 countries and territories worldwide to provide our insights and expertise to customers looking to harness the opportunities afforded by e-commerce,” he said.
