CONTECON GUAYAQUIL STRENGTHENS TRADE CONNECTION TO ASIA
December 9, 2024

Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA), Ecuador's main port and subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has signed a new commercial agreement for the Asia-South America (ASA) service, further strengthening Contecon Guayaquil's connectivity with the Asian market.

In a statement, OOCL said the agreement brings five shipping lines and their shippers' customer bases back to the terminal: Wan Hai, Pacific International Lines, Cosco, Evergreen and Yang Ming.

It noted that the Asia-South America service used to call at Contecon Guayaquil until 2015, recommencing in the first week of November.

"Contecon Guayaquil's inclusion in the service rotation reaffirms CGSA's commitment to innovation, operational excellence and to ensuring that each client receives world-class service that supports their business objectives and contributes to the sustained development of Ecuador’s foreign trade," OOCL said.

In March 2007, ICTSI was awarded by the port authority of Guayaquil, Autoridad Portuario de Guayaquil (APG), a 20-year operating concession for the Container and Multipurpose Terminals in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Later in May, a contract was formally signed between APG and Contecon Guayaquil SA, ICTSI’s local operating unit. The terminal handles containerized general and bulk cargo.
