Qatar Airways has launched its non-stop flight between Doha and Gothenburg.
The new route to Sweden’s second-largest city is operated five times a week with a Boeing 787-8.
“Qatar Airways’ direct route is the result of successful cooperation between Swedavia and regional partners,” said Jonaas Abrahamsson, chief executive officer of Swedavia, Sweden’s national airport operator. “Together we are showing Qatar Airways the potential in the market of West Sweden. It is with great pleasure Swedavia and our West Sweden partners jointly welcome this top-of-the-line Middle Eastern airline to Göteborg Landvetter Airport.”
According to Qatar Airways Cargo, the bellyhold capacity on the new flight will benefit the automotive, pharma, high-tech and general industries in Sweden, with connections to the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand via the carrier’s hub in Doha.
The Gothenburg flight will increase Qatar Airways Cargo’s overall tonnage from the Nordic region to 1,000 tonnes per week, adding to the belly capacity on passenger flights to and from Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm, as well as a four-times-weekly freighter service from Oslo to Doha.
