Qatar Airways has launched its non-stop flight between Doha and Da Nang.
The new flight is operated four times a week with a Boeing 787-8. The carrier expects to transport major exports from Da Nang such as garments, perishables and electronics.
“Qatar Airways is very pleased to extend its reach into Vietnam by launching our third gateway into this beautiful country,” said Akbar Al Baker, group chief executive of Qatar Airways. “The addition of Da Nang to our global network further demonstrates our commitment to the Far East region, a highly important market for Qatar Airways.”
The airline already serves Hanoi with freighters six times a week and Ho Chi Minh City with seven a week. Bellyhold capacity is also available on twice-daily passenger flights to Hanoi and 10-times-weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City. Qatar Airways Cargo will now offer more than 1,400 tonnes of capacity out of the country each week, allowing businesses to connect to the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
Qatar Airways launched its non-stop flight to Ho Chi Minh City in 2007 and began flying to Hanoi in 2010.
“This year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Qatar, and we are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways to Da Nang, its third Vietnamese destination,” said Nguyen Dinh Thao, the Vietnamese ambassador to the State of Qatar. “The direct flight to Doha will play a crucial role in connecting central Vietnam passengers and freight to the rest of the world.”
Da Nang is the 14th new route to be introduced by Qatar Airways in 2018.
