Finnair will extend its seasonal Guangzhou route to a year-round operation and will fly between Helsinki and Guangzhou twice a week during the 2019/2020 winter season.
According to the airline, the Guangzhou route was launched in the summer of 2016. This spring, Finnair has begun flying the route with an Airbus A350-900 instead of an A330-300, offering increased cargo capacity between the two cities.
“The extension of the operating season of our Guangzhou route is a logical next step in our Asian strategy,” said Christian Lesjak, SVP of network and resource management at Finnair. “Travel between Finnair’s Chinese destinations and Europe is increasing, and we are happy now to be able to offer year-round operations to our passengers and cargo customers.”
During the summer season, Finnair flies between Guangzhou and Helsinki four times a week.
Apart from Guangzhou, Finnair also flies to Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Nanjing, Shanghai and Xi’an in Greater China, and will operate up to 42 weekly frequencies to China from its Helsinki hub this summer season.
