THAILAND BANS ALL INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS; CARGO SERVICES EXCLUDED

Thailand is banning all international services into the country from April 6 to April 18 as part of its measures to contain the growing number of coronavirus cases in the country.

As of April 6, Thailand has recorded 38 Covid-19 related deaths and 2,258 cases — the 4th highest cases in Southeast Asia next only to Malaysia (3,793), Philippines (3,660), and Indonesia (2,491).

"All international passenger flights to Thailand will be banned from 6 April 2020 at 17.00 UTC to 18 April 2020 at 17.00 UTC," the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said on its notification regarding the temporary ban on all international flights to Thailand issued on April 3.

All flight permits granted to international passenger flights for such period will also be cancelled.

The ban, however, excludes state or military aircraft; emergency landing; technical landing without disembarkation; humanitarian aid, medical and relief services; and repatriation services.

It will also allow air freight bringing cargo to enter Thailand.

"The passengers on board the aircraft leaving the airport of departure before the entry into force of the Notification will subject to 14-day quarantine under the contiguous disease law and the regulation," CAAT said.
