Mediterranean Shipping Company has inaugurated the 9,800 TEU MSC Silvia in Shanghai.
The new vessel will be deployed on the Empire service connecting the Far East with the US East Coast, according to MSC. The ship was built at the Hudong shipyard in China and will sail under the Panama flag.
The MSC Silvia is named after the wife of Achille Staiano, head of commercial services at MSC Cruises.
