The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) — composed of seaports of Seattle and Tacoma — said it handled a total of 313,430 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in October, representing a 5.6% rise in volume compared to October 2020.

Full imports also grew 7.2% although full exports for the period decreased 9.8%. 

In a statement, it said year-to-date volumes improved 14.7% to 3,116,785 TEUs, with full imports growing 20.7% and full exports declining 11.2%.

Aside from this, the ports noted that breakbulk volumes for the month of October grew 30.5% to 305,805 metric tons. 

Auto volumes were also up 11.7% to 135,973 units over the same period in 2020.

The NWSA also announced changes made by Maersk to its Asia–West Coast TP Alaska service which will be rebranded to the weekly, standalone TP7 service, with a Shanghai-Yantian-Seattle-Yokohama-Busan-Qingdao-Shanghai rotation.
