Cosco Shipping Lines is launching a land-sea service between Kuantan on the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula to Port Klang the largest port in the country on the west side.
Cosco is combining Malaysian trailer resources and building a reliable and efficient trail service between Kuantan and Port Klang, which is tightly linked to the Port Klang shipping service network.
It noted that the new sea-land connection will offer a faster, cheaper service with guaranteed containers.
"It is a successful practice for the company to upgrade logistic solutions in Malaysia and implement an end-to-end service strategy, which will provide more benefits for clients in RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) regions," Cosco said.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) — which entered into force this year — will create the world’s largest trading bloc by economic size.
The agreement encompasses several areas of cooperation, with tariff concessions a central principle. The deal will eliminate 90% of tariffs within the bloc covering 15 East Asian and Pacific nations of different economic sizes and stages of development: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
