MSC is launching a new China-Bangladesh service to avoid bottlenecks in regional transshipment ports.
The new connection, which will begin on April 27, will directly connect South China to Chittagong with the Hong Kong — Yantian — Shekou — Singapore —Tanjung Pelepas — Chittagong — Singapore — Tanjung Pelepas — Hong Kong port rotation.
"The service will provide customers with a direct link between South China and Chittagong, and will also enable connections for Bangladesh imports and exports via our transshipment hubs in Singapore and Tanjung Pelepas," MSC said.
Meanwhile, although the service will initially run with one vessel per week, MSC signaled plans to further expand the service.
