Hutchison Ports Yantian (Yantian) will be increasing its daily gate-in quota for export-laden containers as part of efforts to facilitate an efficient flow of container traffic during the peak season.
From August 1 to September 30, 2022, Yantian will be expanding the daily gate-in quota to 13,000.
Yantian has also optimised the "e-Pickup" platform and the "Pre-Advice System" to improve the efficiency of the reservation system for the gate-in of export-laden containers.
It noted that from 06:00 AM to 10:00 AM every day, the system is open to the reservation for export laden containers within ETB-4 days (within four days before the expected berthing date of the vessel), and for export laden containers within ETB-7 days after 10:00 AM.
From January to July this year, Yantian has received 14 new weekly liner calls, including America, Europe, Intra-Asia, and Australia services.
Expanding intermodal service in China
"Yantian continues to expand its intermodal service network to China's vast hinterland. It has established 9 inland ports and opened 26 intermodal services, extending the terminal functions to the major cargo catchment areas of the country," it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, to meet the trend of increasing deployment of mega-vessels among the maritime industry and the growing demand of the customers, Yantian said it also recently completed the berth upgrade and quay crane heightening project.
"On July 18, 2022, Yantian was proud to accommodate six 400-meter-long vessels concurrently. Hereafter, simultaneous calls of six 200,000-DWT vessels will become a new norm and a common occurrence at the quayside of Yantian," it added.
"The enhancement has also enabled YANTIAN to be more agile and resilient to serve mega-vessels in the peak season."
The nine inland ports of Yantian are Changping, Heyuan, Heshan, Pinghu South, Longchuan and Jiangmen in Guangdong province, Ganzhou in Jiangxi province, Liling and Yueyang in Hunan province.
