Cargolux and Oman Air will extend their joint cargo network in India by launching freighter flights to Mumbai from March 8, 2016.

The twice-weekly flights will be operated by one of Cargolux’s Boeing 747 Freighters.

“Our product advantages include the carriage of project cargo, livestock, cargo-aircraft-only freight, odd-size cargo, vehicles and aircraft engines,” said Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, chief operating officer of Oman Air. “And, importantly, the new service will make an even greater contribution to the development of Oman as a global cargo hub. The Sultanate’s geographical location and superb infrastructure, together with the partnership between Oman Air and Cargolux, ensure that it is rapidly becoming the first choice for transportation of cargo between India, the Middle East and Europe.”

Niek van der Wilde, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cargolux, said that his company was happy to see the successful cooperation with Oman Air expand.

“Customers in Europe, as well as in Oman, have welcomed our service to India and can now enjoy our proven reliability and dedication to excellence in an even wider market,” said van der Wilde. “With India’s growing importance as a manufacturing nation, we see a lot of future potential and possibilities for both our companies.”

Under the partnership agreement between the two carriers, which was signed in 2015, Cargolux can use the belly capacity of Oman Air’s passenger fleet to serve 11 destinations in India, according to Cargolux.
