DHL Supply Chain has announced three new key leadership appointments in Asia Pacific to boost its operations in the region.
These new appointments follow Andries Retief's appointment as chief commercial officer, DHL Supply Chain Europe, Middle East, and Africa, effective September 1, 2024.
DHL said Edwin Wong will take on a new role as CEO of DHL Supply Chain Southeast Asia.
Wong is a DHL veteran with 20 years of experience with the group. He joined Exel (later DHL Supply Chain) as a strategy manager in 2004 and has since held various roles across strategy, M&A, operations & projects, and key account management before being appointed head of service logistics, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific in 2014.
In 2019, he transitioned DHL Supply Chain China and Hong Kong to SF Supply Chain and oversaw their strategic partnership.
DHL noted that in his new role, he will report directly to Javier Bilbao, chief executive officer of DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific.
Fanny Huang will assume the additional position of head of the Taiwan & China representative office effective July 1.
Huang joined DHL Supply Chain in 2018 as director of strategic deal management, successfully setting up the transport-focused joint venture, DHL Summit Solutions Inc., in the Philippines.
In 2021, she took on her current role, advancing the ESG agenda and developing the APAC decarbonization roadmap. She also led the regional CEO office and championed DEIB initiatives.
DHL said as VP, Head of ESG APAC, and Head of Taiwan & China, Huang will build on Taiwan's recent progress and strengthen DHL Supply Chain's relationship with SF Supply Chain in China.
She will also retain her roles as APAC CEO, chief of staff, and APAC DEIB sponsor, reporting directly to Bilbao.
Meanwhile, Michael Lai will take over Edwin Wong as head of service logistics, Asia Pacific. He joined the DHL Group in 2003 and has held several management roles since.
He was then appointed managing director of Taiwan in 2013 where he accelerated the service logistics portfolio of DHL.
In 2016, he became head of service logistics in Greater China, and in 2019, he served as COO and Head of Solutions and Innovations at SF DHL Supply Chain in China.
In his new role as head of service logistics, Lai will enhance customer service, optimize operations, and implement sustainable practices. He will also report to John Farrell and Javier Bilbao.
DHL noted that all three will continue to be based in Singapore.
"Recognizing and leveraging our internal talent underscores the strength of our workforce and our dedication to fostering a culture of growth and opportunity. I am looking forward to continued contributions from these exceptional leaders in their new roles," said Bilbao, chief executive officer of DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific.
"Each of them brings their distinct expertise and proven track records in enhancing customer service and innovation to the table. Their deep knowledge of our operations and commitment to our mission will be invaluable as we help our customers grow and build their supply chain resiliency in this region," he added.
