TURKISH CARGO'S SMARTIST TERMINAL RECEIVES IATA SMART FACILITY CERTIFICATION

Turkish Cargo has recently received the IATA Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification for its SMARTIST Terminal at Istanbul Airport.

The certification attests that Turkish Cargo's operational procedures comply with a range of IATA regulations, including those governing cargo handling, dangerous goods, ULD storage, temperature control, live animals, and perishable cargo.

The SMARTIST Terminal is equipped with one of the most advanced cargo facilities globally, where computer-controlled Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) facilitates cargo handling and storage.

Turkish Cargo has stated that this system reduces the necessity for manual intervention, streamlining operational processes and lowering potential risks and costs.

The terminal also uses smart storage management systems to automate ULD storage processes, enabling the workforce to concentrate on more value-added tasks.

Ali Türk, Turkish Airlines' chief cargo officer, welcomed the achievement, noting that the carrier's focus is on maximizing customer satisfaction.

"Turkish Cargo aims to become the industry leader by 2033. This vision guides all our investments and business processes," he said. "The IATA Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification is a significant endorsement of our brand, as it not only verifies that SMARTIST meets international quality standards but also demonstrates that our digital solutions, smart systems, operations, and human resources are all aligned with our future goals."

Brendan Sullivan, IATA's global head of cargo, said the certification "highlights Turkish Cargo's commitment to operational excellence, ensuring that all types of cargo are handled seamlessly, securely, and in full compliance with global standards."

"We are pleased to announce that Turkish Cargo has achieved IATA's Smart Facility Operational Capacity (SFOC) Certification for its SMARTIST Terminal," Sullivan said, adding that Turkish Cargo's SMARTIST Terminal "sets a high bar for cargo facilities worldwide."

IATA's Smart Facility Operational Capacity Certification is awarded after thorough examinations by independent auditors who follow the organisation's standards.
