American Airlines has appointed Rick Elieson as its new president of cargo.
According to AA, Elieson succeeds Jim Butler, who has been president of cargo since 2013 and was appointed senior vice president of international and cargo in January 2017.
“We often look at cargo as an airline within an airline,” said Butler. “Leading this fantastic team requires a wide range of experience, which Rick brings to the position. His history in leading large-scale strategic partnerships, pricing and revenue management and complex technology implementations, combined with his goal of building collaborative and empowered teams, is the perfect recipe for supporting the future success of our cargo division.”
Elieson, who started his career in the airline’s Fort Worth reservations office in 1994, was most recently vice president of global partner marketing. He has held positions in revenue management, pricing strategy, loyalty, digital and marketing.
Roger Samways has also been promoted from managing director of global sales and key accounts to vice president of global sales, according to AA.
