“This is our fifth freighter destination launched this year, in tandem with our increased fleet size,” said Ulrich Ogiermann, chief cargo officer of Qatar Airways. “Intra-Asia air cargo has grown over the years, and we have observed substantial migration of manufacturing trade from China to Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and Vietnam. Leveraging our extensive network of more than 70 cities in Africa, Europe and the Americas, we are in the lead to provide our customers in the Southeast Asia region adequate capacity, flexibility and world-class air freight solutions via our state-of-the-art Doha hub.”

The carrier expects the majority of the cargo carried on the flight to be garments, which account for more than 80% of Cambodia’s exports.

Qatar Airways already carries bellyhold cargo on daily A330-200 passenger flights to and from Phnom Penh via Ho Chi Minh City.

The carrier also operates freighter services to Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Seoul and Shanghai in the Asia-Pacific region.
