The 20,000 TEU MOL Triumph has made its first call at HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai at the Port of Hamburg.

The ship is being deployed on The Alliance’s FE2 service between Asia and Europe.

“It is an amazing moment to have the MOL Triumph here in the Port of Hamburg,” said Jan Holst, director of North Europe for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. “Our shipping line has been really exerting itself, working towards this moment for the last three years. It makes you feel really proud when it actually happens.”

Before the ship is scheduled to leave early morning on May 18, 2017, approximately 6,000 TEUs will be discharged and 3,500 TEUs will be loaded.

“HHLA is pleased that with the MOL Triumph it can handle and clear the first 20,000 TEU container ship in the Port of Hamburg at its Burchardkai terminal,” said Jens Hansen, executive board member and chief operating officer of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG. “This first call underlines the successful relationship with our longstanding customer MOL.”

Up to nine out of 13 of the terminal’s largest gantry cranes will operate simultaneously on the ship and HHLA staff will be working in seven eight-hour shifts, according to the Port of Hamburg.
