EMIRATES TO LAUNCH LONDON STANSTED FLIGHT
December 21, 2017

Emirates will launch a non-stop flight between Dubai and London Stansted June 8, 2018.

The new flight will be operated daily with a Boeing 777-300ER, which can carry approximately 23 tonnes of cargo in its belly.

Stansted is located to the Northeast of London and is close to the tech and pharma hubs of Cambridge and Peterborough. More than 25 of the world’s largest corporations have established operations in the wider area, including Airbus, Astra Zeneca and GSK. The airport’s catchment area is also home to 7.5 million people.

“We’re delighted that Emirates has recognized the strength of London Stansted’s catchment and the opportunity that our available runway capacity gives them to continue growing in the Southeast of England over the next decade,” said Ken O’Toole, chief executive of London Stansted.

Stansted has substantial cargo-handling capabilities and will be a key airport for Emirates SkyCargo, which transports an average of 140,000 tonnes of cargo in and out of the UK every year. SkyCargo’s cargo partner Cargolux already has operations at Stansted.

“The introduction of the new London Stansted-Dubai service underscores our commitment to serve London, with operations soon to three different airports in the city,” said Tim Clark, president of Emirates.

The daily Stansted service will be Emirates’ 10th flight to Greater London every day, adding to the six daily A380s to Heathrow and three daily A380s to Gatwick.

Stansted will also be the carrier’s seventh destination in the UK, after Birmingham, Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Manchester and Newcastle.
