Cathay Pacific will begin flying to Madrid on June 2, 2016.

The flight will be operated four times a week with a Boeing 777-300ER.

“The new service to Madrid is a good addition for cargo, enabling us to tap into the Spanish market,” said Mark Sutch, general manager of cargo sales and marketing at Cathay. “On the exports front, Spain is strong on fashion and garments. We aspire to serve this growing segment with our direct Madrid to Hong Kong service.”

Sutch also said that there was another appeal to Madrid, which is the main hub of oneworld partner Iberia.

“As for the westbound, apart from carrying shipments and mail directly into Spain, we also see potential in using Madrid as an alternative transit point for South American bound shipments through our interline partnerships.”
