Singapore Airlines has launched a new cargo service from Changi Airport to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia with connections in Dallas Fort Worth and stops Brussels and the United Arab Emirates.

The Singapore flag carrier will utilize its B747-400F aircraft for the Dallas Forth Worth - Atlanta - Brussels - Sharjah International Airport - Singapore service which will commence on November 28 until March 2020.

The route expansion came as Singapore Airlines, along with other Asia Pacific carriers, experienced airfreight volume decline over the past several months, amid escalating trade tensions and a general economic slowdown.

Singapore Airlines Cargo earlier reported a drop in cargo volume last month with freight volume declining by 6.8% in October to 107,900 tonnes as traffic was also down 10.3% during the period.

Capacity also dipped in October by 1.4%, while cargo load factor fell by 6.2 percentage points to 61.8%.

Singapore Airlines has said that it will continue to pursue charter opportunities and deploy capacity to match demand.

The airline is connected to over 100 cities on its freighters and in the cargo hold of passenger aircraft operated by Singapore Airlines, and its subsidiaries SilkAir and Scoot.
