LUFTHANSA ANNOUNCES TOP MANAGEMENT CHANGES AS PETER GERBER MOVES TO BRUSSELS AIRLINES

Lufthansa Cargo announced that Peter Gerber will be succeeded by Dorothea von Boxberg as its Chief Executive Officer starting March next year.

 

Gerber will take over as CEO of Brussels Airlines effective on the same date, and will also assume the newly created position of Executive Vice President of the Lufthansa Group in Brussels.

 

Gerber will succeed Dieter Vranckx as CEO of Brussels Airlines.

 

"Subject to the pending decision of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding, Gerber will take up his position in Belgium on March 1, 2021," Lufthansa said in its statement.

 

Gerber, along with Nina Öwerdieck, CFO of Brussels Airlines, and Edi Wolfensberger, COO of the Belgian airline,  will continue to implement the company's "Reboot Plus" turnaround plan and build a strong, lean and competitive Brussels Airlines, it added.

 

Lufthansa noted that in addition to managing the Belgian airline, he will also assume the newly created position of Lufthansa Group Chief Representative for European Affairs in Brussels, thus representing the interests of the entire Lufthansa Group at European level.

 

Dorothea von Boxberg to replace Gerber

 

Dorothea von Boxberg is to become the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG, also on March 1. 

 

The Supervisory Boards still have to approve these proposals.Gerber's appointment to the Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines is part of the Group-wide rotation policy for management positions.

 

Peter Gerber began his career with the Lufthansa Group in 1992. von Boxberg joined Deutsche Lufthansa AG in 2007and from 2009 was head of the "Strategy and Investments" department at Lufthansa Passage. In 2015, she moved to Lufthansa Cargo, where she initially headed Global Sales Management before being appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo in 2018, advancing to the Executive Board.

 

A successor for Dorothea von Boxberg as Chief Commercial Officer will be announced at a later date.
