Finnair and Chinese airline Juneyao Air have announced their plans to enter a joint business partnership starting July in launching services between Helsinki and Shanghai — as well as other destinations in China and Europe.
In a statement, the carriers said the deal would improved connectivity to 57 destinations in China via Shanghai Pudong International Airport for Finnair customers, and gain access to 65 European destinations via Helsinki for clients of the Chinese airline.
The carriers commenced a codeshare cooperation in July 2019, when Juneyao Air launched Shanghai-Helsinki service.
Finnair and Juneyao Air operate a combined twice weekly service between Helsinki and Shanghai, down from daily frequency in 2019, and the airlines intend to increase frequency "as soon as the pandemic situation allows."
