Hellmann Worldwide Logistics announced the appointment of Marc Wijnen as the head of the newly created role of global head of e-commerce — part of the company's bid to strengthen its e-commerce business.
Hellmann said Wijnen will take the responsibility of further developing the company's e-commerce product globally, which falls under the Contract Logistics segment. In addition, Wijnen will also remain responsible for the European Contract Logistics product as chief operating officer.
In a statement, the logistics firm said it created the role following the ongoing boom in e-commerce demand, in part driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The e-commerce market is extremely dynamic. To meet our customers’ increasing demands for innovative solutions, we are currently setting up a ‘Center of Excellence’ with Marc Wijnen as global head of e-commerce, in which we are pooling our know-how and applying it worldwide,” said Hellmann chief operating officer contract logistics Volker Sauerborn.
“At the same time, we are testing new approaches to solution design and constantly expand our talent and product offering. This is how we ensure that we can offer customers individually tailored services that have their finger on the pulse.”
