CONTAINER LINE SCHEDULE RELIABILITY DIPS ANEW IN JULY

Container line schedule reliability continued to track lower, according to Sea-Intelligence, with both month-to-month and year-on-year comparisons significantly down in July. 

 

The maritime analyst said in its latest Global Liner Performance (GLP) report that while schedule reliability is not getting any worse, it is not getting better either, hovering around 35%-40% for most of the year.

 

In July 2021, schedule reliability dropped by -3.8 percentage points month-on-month to 35.6%.

On a year-on-year level, schedule reliability was down a "massive" -39.7 percentage points, according to Sea-Intelligence with the average delay for late vessel arrivals continued to deteriorate in July 2021, increasing by a further 0.35 days month over month to 6.88 days.

 

"The level of delays in 2021 have been the highest across each month compared to previous years," it added.

 

Maersk most reliable liner in July

 

The maritime analyst named Maersk Line as the most reliable top-14 carrier in July 2021, with schedule reliability of 47.3%, followed by Hamburg Süd. It said other carriers schedule reliability were between 30%-40%, while six between 20%-30%, and the remaining two under 20%.

 

It said for July, Evergreen had the lowest schedule reliability at of 16.2%. It added that none of the carriers recorded a month-on-month improvement either.

The largest decrease month-over-month was of -9.6 percentage points recorded by ZIM,  Sea-Intelligence added.

 

It said none of the top-14 carriers recorded a Y/Y improvement in schedule reliability, with all carriers recording double-digit declines of over -32.0 percentage points.
