AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has tapped ground handler Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to support its cargo operations at Liege Airport.

The freighter operator said as part of the 10-year contract, WFS will process cargo on AirBridgeCargo’s Boeing 747F incoming and outbound flights, which fly from Liege 15 times per week.

WFS will also process cargo for other Volga-Dnepr Group airlines at Liege as needed.

With this, the cargo handler has subleased half of ABC’s new cargo terminal at the airport which can process up to 150,000 tonnes of airfreight annually.

The 12,500 sq m cargo terminal also has a dedicated pharma zone for temperature-controlled products, enabling WFS’ team to handle pharma and perishable goods.

"We are extremely proud that AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Volga-Dnepr Group are making this long-term commitment to working with WFS. This 10-year contract in Liege follows our announcement in June of a three-year handling agreement with ABC at our new cargo terminal in Atlanta," said Barry Nassberg, group chief commercial officer at WFS.

Aside from Liege, WFS also provides cargo handling for AirBridgeCargo in Frankfurt, Madrid, Paris, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

WFS earlier this year opened a new cargo terminal at Brussels Airport.
