TAIWANESE AIRLINES CARGO UP 30% IN AUGUST

Taiwanese airlines saw cargo volumes up 30% in August according to the Taiwanese Civil Aeronautics Administration with domestic airlines recording double-digit cargo growth or decline.

 

In general, cargo volumes totalled 231,077 tonnes last month, or a performance that is 29.5% higher than the pre-Covid level seen during the same month in 2019.

 

EVA Air's cargo was up 38.1% to 74,684 tonnes in August, while China Airlines also saw a 34.5% increase in cargo to 152,492 tonnes. 

 

Meanwhile, Evergreen Group subsidiary Uni Air — a regional airline based in Zhongshan, Taipei with an operation focus on domestic routes — saw a 73.1% drop in cargo for the month, recording 1,414 tonnes of cargo for the period. This was followed by Mandarin Airlines which saw its cargo perfomance decline by 50.6% to 1,531 tonnes.

 

Newly-established carrier, STARLUX Airlines, reported 895 tonnes of cargo for the month, while Daily Air in Taipei's Songshan district saw 60 tonnes of cargo for August, representing a 10.4% decrease.
