GetJet Airlines announced that it operated an almost-9 hour flight from Hong Kong to Sydney carrying Rapid Antigen test kits to the Australian capital.
In a statement, the Lithunian aircraft leasing and chartering company said it transported the freight in its Airbus A330-302 — becoming the first Lithuanian airline company to operate a commercial flight to Australia.
"During the pandemic, this wide-body aircraft was modified from passenger to freighter with 0 LOPA configuration allowing the airline to operate cargo in-cabin flights," GetJet said in a statement.
"The flight (GW734) to Sydney was not an exception – the aircraft carried tons of Rapid Antigen Tests," it added.
GetJet noted that cargo flights have been specially in high-demand because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Cargo flights delivering Covid-19 related products are in high demand in recent pandemic years," it said. "Moreover, the market situation shows no signs of slowing down."
