ICTSI THROUGHPUT GROWS 5% IN 2015
March 10, 2016

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. handled 7,775,993 TEUs in 2015, a 5-percent increase over 2014, according to consolidated financial results released by the company.

According to ICTSI, the growth was mainly because of the continuing volume ramp-up at Contecon Manzanillo in Mexico and Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana, in Puerto Cortes, Honduras; new contracts and services at Pakistan International Container Terminal in Karachi and at Contecon Guayaquil in Ecuador; increased demand for services at Subic Bay International Terminal Corp. in the Philippines; favourable impact of consolidation at Yantai International Container Terminal in China; and the contribution from ICTSI Iraq, a new terminal in Umm Qasr which launched operations in November 2014.

Revenue from port operations fell 1 percent year-on-year to US$1.05 billion, while net income attributable to shareholders dropped 68 percent to US$58.5 million, but this was due to a number of non-recurring charges, according to the company.
