SKYCARGO LAUNCHES FREIGHTER SERVICE TO CAMBODIA
April 7, 2016

Emirates SkyCargo has launched a non-stop freighter flight to Phnom Penh, effective from April 6, 2016.

“Cambodia’s air cargo market is growing at a robust rate with Europe and the United States being key export markets,” said Hiran Perera, senior vice president of Emirates SkyCargo. “Establishing a presence in this market will position Emirates SkyCargo to benefit from the healthy growth potential. Our strong route network and Dubai’s location as a global cargo hub mean that we can connect our customers in Asia to 150 destinations, including 42 gateways in Europe, 14 gateways in North America and 27 gateways in Africa.”

SkyCargo expects the main imports to Cambodia to be fabric and leather, and the main exports to be textiles and garments.

The weekly flight is operated by an MD-11F, which offers a cargo capacity of about 80 tonnes.  The aircraft is wet-leased from Zimbabwe-based Global Africa Cargo.

A trucking network will transport cargo from Phnom Penh to the rest of the country, according to SkyCargo.
