AIR CANADA CARGO ANNOUNCES GROUND HANDLING CHARGE ADJUSTMENTS

Air Canada Cargo has announced increases in its ground handling charges in Canada as a result of increases in inflationary and global costs.

 

The Canadian carrier said the charge adjustments will be effective January 20, 2025.

 

In terms of cargo storage charges, Air Canada Cargo said the regular minimum charge per shipment is US$75.00, and the minimum charge per day is US$25.00 with a rate per kilogram of US$0.40.

 

For special handling, Air Canada Cargo said the minimum charge per shipment is US$85.00 and the minimum charge per day is US$45.00 with a US$0.60 rate per kilogram.

 

In terms of cargo storage, for regular cargo (export), Air Canada Cargo noted that storage charges will apply when the carrier is requested to withhold a shipment, or a piece thereof, beyond midnight of the day following the day of receipt of the shipment or when the first piece is not accompanied by an air waybill or when all pieces are not received within 24 hours of receipt of the first piece.

 

In terms of import, for regular cargo, free storage for 48 hours is calculated from 00:01 a.m. on the day following the day of arrival (check-in).

 

For special handling cargo (perishables, live animals, live plants, newspaper, magazines, or any type of goods which require special attention outside the general accepted norms of warehousing), free storage for 24 hours is calculated from 00:01 a.m. on the day following the day of arrival (check-in).

 

For import terminal charge, shipments removed in bond is US$135.00 per shipment and preparation of shipments for Customs clearance is US$135.00 per shipment.

 

For dangerous goods charges, shipments of restricted dangerous goods are US$90.00, and additional occurrences of the same UN/ID number within a single shipment are US$90.00.

 

For dangerous goods in excepted quantities, the rate is US$40.00 per air waybill. For radioactive materials in excepted packages, it is US$40.00 per air waybill. Dry ice shipments are US$40.00.

 

The non-acceptance fee for dangerous goods shipments is US$45.00, and the check fee for lithium-ion batteries (ELI) is US$45.00. The check fee for lithium metal batteries (ELM) is US$45.00.

 

For the miscellaneous export charges, the shipment of articles of extraordinary value/valuable cargo (VL) (applicable for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the U.S.) is US$45.00 per shipment.

 

The service and handling fee for domestic shipments within Canada (FB) is US$25.00 per AWB, and the air waybill preparation fee (AW-C) is US$45.00.
