LUFTHANSA CARGO INTEGRATES ADD-ON SERVICES INTO ITS DIGITAL BOOKING PROCESS
March 17, 2026

Lufthansa Cargo has expanded the integration of its Add‑on Services into its digital booking process.

The carrier said the enhanced offering allows shippers to "enhance airfreight transports with targeted additional services – from supporting the use of more sustainable aviation fuel to personally accompanying valuable works of art during ground handling or receiving real-time information on the status of temperature-sensitive shipments."

The Add‑on Services build on Lufthansa Cargo's modular product structure, in which customers first select a Product and define the required Speed before choosing any additional features.

Lufthansa Cargo noted that the services are now even more closely integrated into the digital booking journey and at the end of the booking flow, all available options for the selected product, speed and route are displayed with transparent pricing and can be added with just a few clicks.

Five Add‑on Services are currently available. This includes "Sustainable Choice" which enables customers to support the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and contribute to certified climate protection projects corresponding to the CO₂ emissions of their shipment; "Personal Supervision", which allows representatives of art logistics companies or curators to accompany valuable artworks during ground handling in Frankfurt and Munich.

Lufthansa Cargo is also offering "smartULD" service which provides real‑time data transmission and continuous temperature and data monitoring for temperature‑sensitive goods when used with the carrier's "Active Temp Control" product.

The "toDoor", meanwhile, provides direct delivery to the consignee's bonded warehouse via Lufthansa Cargo's Road Feeder Service, while "Insurance" service offers door‑to‑door airfreight insurance solution beyond standard liability limits in cooperation with Delvag.

Lufthansa Cargo said the portfolio "serves frequently requested customer needs along the transport chain and provides additional flexibility for designing individual logistics solutions."

The approach allows shippers to expand their bookings with targeted additional services and tailor transport solutions even more flexibly to their individual requirements.
