Maersk is implementing a series of operational changes to cargo routed through Jeddah as part of its contingency planning for the upcoming peak season, redirecting selected transshipment volumes to alternative regional hubs until further notice.

The carrier said that cargo bound for Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE will no longer transship via Jeddah.

Instead, shipments will move through Salalah and Khor Fakkan before being transported by landbridge to Sharjah, where they will connect to final destinations through Maersk's intra‑Gulf feeder network.

Cargo booked to Jeddah but destined for delivery outside Saudi Arabia will also be rerouted. Maersk said these shipments will not be discharged in Jeddah and will instead move through Khor Fakkan.

The company noted that additional charges may apply in connection with the rerouting, with affected customers to receive separate notifications detailing the changes.

Maersk said that the adjustments do not affect Saudi import and export cargo.

Shipments with a Port of Discharge or Place of Delivery within Saudi Arabia will continue to move through Jeddah, including cargo bound for Riyadh and Dammam via the established Jeddah landbridge.

The carrier said the measures are intended to safeguard schedule reliability and maintain service continuity as peak‑season pressures build.
