The G6 Alliance, consisting of APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line, has announced that its Asia Suez Express (AZX) service will include an additional call at Halifax.

The new port rotation will be: Laem Chabang – Singapore – Colombo – Damietta – Cagliari – Halifax – New York – Savannah – Norfolk – Halifax (new) – Cagliari – Damietta – Jebel Ali – Singapore – Laem Chabang.

The first voyage of the amended service will be operated by the Budapest Express on July 6, 2015 and is scheduled to arrive at Halifax on August 4, 2015.

The change is expected to improve transit times from Canada to Asian and Mediterranean ports, as well as from Asian and Mediterranean ports to New York, according to the NOL Group, which owns APL.
