ETHIOPIAN LAUNCHES CARGO FLIGHTS TO BKK, HANOI

Ethiopian Cargo has introduced a weekly freighter service to Bangkok and Hanoi starting August 16.

The cargo flight to Hanoi from Addis Ababa (ADD), Ethiopia, will depart every Friday at 11:55 a.m. local time and arrive at 9:30 p.m., also local time. The same flight departs Hanoi at 11:30 p.m. and arrives in Bangkok at 1:00 a.m. the following day. The Boeing 777 freighter is scheduled to leave Bangkok on Saturday at 3:00 a.m. local time and arrive in Addis Ababa at 11:55 a.m.

“Our new cargo service to Bangkok and Hanoi will supplement the daily belly-hold cargo capacity on passenger aircraft and will create better connectivity for cargo transport not just between Ethiopia, Thailand and Vietnam, but also to over 60 destinations that we serve in Africa," Ethiopian group CEO Tewolde GebreMariam said.

“The commencement of these flights makes Ethiopian the first African carrier to operate cargo flights from Bangkok, and will also create better opportunities for Thai and Vietnamese exporters to have one-stop access to the 60 plus African destinations that Ethiopian serves. The freighter flight will also link Bangkok and Hanoi to Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas,” he added.

Operating next-generation freighters and with Africa’s largest transshipment terminal, Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services – the largest cargo operator in Africa – facilitates the export of perishables, garments, mining products, and the import of high-value industrial products and inputs, pharmaceuticals, among others across its global network.

The airline serves 57 international destinations.
