CHINA CIVIL AVIATION REPORTS PAX VOLUMES ALREADY AT 61.5% OF 2019 LEVEL

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has reported that passenger volumes in the mainland have already returned to more than half of the 2019 levels. 

 

CAAC said daily air passengers exceeded one million for the first time since January 28 when the coronavirus outbreak started grounding flights worldwide. Passengers reached 1.04 million on June 5 — recovering to 61.5% of 2019 levels.


The daily number of flights also reached 11,333, marking a new daily record since February 2020.

 

Daily air passengers averaged 458,300 in March and 522,700 in April. It reached 785,800 in May while daily air passengers and the daily number of flights in the first five days of June increased to 935,200 and 10,570, respectively, recovering to 57.4% and 66.11% of 2019 levels.

 

Passenger load factor averaging close to 70%.
