United Airlines will begin flying from San Francisco to Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan International Airport from July 13, 2016.
The flight will be operated three times a week with a Boeing 787-9.
Hangzhou will be the airline’s fifth destination in mainland China, after Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Xi’an. It will also be United’s 14th Asia-Pacific destination from its trans-Pacific hub in San Francisco.

United recently announced that it will retire its 22 747-400s from the fleet by the end of 2018, and will convert orders for 787s that were scheduled for delivery from 2020 into four 777-300ERs and five 787-9s, to be delivered from 2017.
United already has widebody firm orders for 35 Airbus A350-1000s, 10 777-300ERs and 27 787s, according to the airline.
