September 13, 2024

Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), a subsidiary of SATS Ltd, has been tapped as the preferred cargo handler of Fly Khiva Group in Hong Kong.

The cargo carrier based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, launched its inaugural flight to Hong Kong on August 2, 2024.

The airline has commenced two weekly flights between Hong Kong and Liège via Uzbekistan.

"This strategic move underscores Fly Khiva's commitment to strengthening the connection between Asia and Europe, catering to the booming e-commerce sector, and addressing the increasing demand for efficient cargo solutions through our hub in Tashkent," said Farkhad Mukhutdinov, commercial director of Fly Khiva Group.

"We are delighted to place our Hong Kong cargo handling operations in the capable hands of AAT. We are confident that their efficiency and expertise will enhance our customer experience," he added.

AAT's chief executive officer, Mike Chew, said Fly Khiva is a valuable addition to the company's portfolio.

"We extend our warmest congratulations to Fly Khiva Group on their operations commencement in Hong Kong. We are excited to welcome them to the AAT family and look forward to supporting Fly Khiva's cargo growth in Hong Kong through our dedication to operational and service excellence," he added.

Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), located at Hong Kong International Airport, is equipped with special cargo handling facilities, including AAT COOLPORT (Cold Chain Handling Centre for Perishables & Pharmaceuticals), as well as designated areas for handling dangerous goods, live animals, and radioactive shipments.

The SATS-owned air cargo terminal in Hong Kong also made significant strides in cargo handling by introducing Autonomous Electric Trucks (AET) earlier this year.

AAT said it plans to expand the fleet progressively in subsequent years while further exploring additional automation features to accommodate various operational needs.
