GLOBAL SCHEDULE RELIABILITY CONTINUES TO INCREASE IN 2025
June 2, 2025

Global schedule reliability grew once more and made a new record as the highest level recorded since November 2023, according to a new Sea-Intelligence report.

The Danish shipping data analysis firm said in April 2025, global schedule reliability improved by 1.7 percentage points month-on-month (M/M) to 58.7%. On a  year-on-year (Y/Y) level, the April score was higher by 6.5 percentage points.

In March, global schedule reliability rose 3.0 percentage points month-over-month, hitting 57.5%.

Sea-Intelligence said Maersk was the most reliable top-13 carrier in April 2025 with a schedule reliability of 73.4%, followed by Hapag-Lloyd at 72.3% and MSC at 60.7%.

The analysis company noted that it launched a new measure for new alliances, based on all arrivals, including the origin region calls, as some new alliance services only had origin arrivals in February.

Sea-Intelligence said "All arrivals" includes both origin and destination calls and is comparable to the February 2025 score, and "Trade arrivals", which is comparable to the "old" alliances and only includes destination calls. When the new alliances are fully rolled out, these two measures will converge.

In March/April 2025, the report said the Gemini Cooperation — the new alliance between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk — recorded 90.7% schedule reliability across all arrivals, and 87.0% across trade arrivals, followed by MSC at 69.8% for "All arrivals" and 77.3% for "Trade arrivals".

Meanwhile, the Premier Alliance — the major container shipping partnership formed in 2025 by HMM, ONE, and Yang Ming — recorded 53.0% for "All arrivals" and 51.3% across "Trade arrivals".

For the outgoing alliances, Sea-Intelligence said "All arrivals" are equal to "Trade arrivals", and Ocean Alliance scored 51.1%, while THE Alliance scored 49.8%, and 2M scored 33.5%.

"It is important to stress, though, that the new alliances will only be fully rolled out in July 2025, and only then will it be possible to truly evaluate their performance," Alan Murphy, CEO, Sea-Intelligence, said.
