Iran Air and Boeing have signed an agreement for 80 aircraft.

According to Boeing, the deal involves 50 737 MAX 8s, 15 777-300ERs and 15 777-9s.

The contract is based on a memorandum of understanding signed in June 2016 between Boeing and Iran Air, and is within the terms of the license issued by the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control to Boeing in September 2016.

The first planes under the agreement are scheduled to be delivered in 2018, according to Boeing.

The Iranian flag carrier also signed an agreement with Airbus in January 2016 for 21 A320ceos, 24 A320neos, 27 A330ceos, 18 A330-900s, 16 A350-1000s and 12 A380s.

The United Nations lifted economic sanctions against Iran on January 16, 2016.
