January 16, 2017

A Boeing 747-400F operated by myCargo has crashed at Manas International Airport in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The flight, TK6491, en route from Hong Kong to Bishkek and Istanbul, was being operated for Turkish Airlines.

The aircraft involved was a 14-year-old 747-400F, registered TC-MCL. According to planespotters.net, it was first delivered to Singapore Airlines Cargo in 2003 and redelivered to myCargo in December 2015. It was then operated on wet lease for Qatar Airways Cargo for approximately a year before being chartered by Turkish Airlines.

myCargo is based in Istanbul and was established in 2004 as ACT Airlines, providing ACMI services to cargo carriers. Chinese airline group HNA Group acquired 49% of ACT’s shares in 2011, after which the company was renamed, according to myCargo.
